Looking into the Downing Street closure

First, I should say that Eric’s Image of Worcester blog has been one of my favorite Worcester sites of late. If you want to read speculation on bus routes and CitySquare, it’s well worth a look.

Today in particular I want to link to this guest post from Nick Cuba about the planned closure of Downing Street. Some locals have objected, either because they’re tired of Clark expanding their control of the area, or because if fire trucks can’t drive down Downing Street, response times to certain areas will increase.

I didn’t go to the community meeting about this, but a friend who did said the firemen aren’t too concerned.

Nick used mapping software and guesswork to see which buildings might see delays, and for how long. Maximum delay without Downing Street? 90 seconds more.
